StatSheet's Sun Belt Player of the Week for February 4th goes to Amos Olatayo from Louisiana-Monroe. Florida Atlantic's Stefan Moody has won StatSheet Sun Belt Freshman of the Week.
Olatayo led the entire Sun Belt in scoring (27.5 pts per game). He also put up respectable numbers with 60% shooting and 7.5 rebounds per game. The Louisiana-Monroe junior played well for the Warhawks in losses to Florida Atlantic and Florida International.
Olatayo led all scoring for the Warhawks with 25 points while adding 3 steals in a 76-71 loss to Florida Atlantic. He followed that up by leading the team in scoring with 30 points on 66% shooting in a 76-73 loss to Florida International.
This is the first StatSheet Sun Belt Player of the Week honor for Amos Olatayo. However, he has been named a runner-up once. The runner-up this week is Florida International junior Tymell Murphy. Honorable mention goes to Augustine Rubit, a junior from South Alabama. Jordan Williams was the highest ranking player from North Texas, finishing fifth.
StatSheet Sun Belt Freshman of the Week: Florida Atlantic's Stefan Moody
Stefan Moody was on the floor an average of 33 minutes while starting both games for Florida Atlantic. He bested all Sun Belt freshmen in both scoring (16.5 pts per game) and free throws (4.0 per game). In a late 76-71 win over Louisiana-Monroe, Moody contributed 55% shooting and 3 steals. In a 73-56 loss to Middle Tennessee State, he led scoring with 17 points and added 3 assists.
Stefan Moody has won the StatSheet Sun Belt Freshman of the Week an astounding 3 times. Jackson Trapp from Florida Atlantic gets runner-up. Honorable mention goes to Jerome Frink from Florida International. The highest ranking freshman from North Texas was P.J. Hardwick who finished 11th. North Texas has won the StatSheet Sun Belt Player of the Week award once this season.
